Tournament Weekend: How to Track 3 Games Without Losing Your Mind

Tournament weekend is chaos. Three games in 24 hours. You're parking, registering, cheering, repeat. You want to track stats, but also... you need a life.

Here's the system that works.

The Setup

Before the tournament

Decide: What 5-6 stats are you tracking? Pick the same stats you track in regular season so the data is consistent. If you add new stats for tournaments, the comparison gets messy.

Bring a notebook

Seriously. Bring a small notebook to jot down quick notes after each game. G: 2, A: 1, S: 4, etc. You'll transfer to the app later.

Set a recurring time to log

Don't try to log every game immediately. Log all three games Sunday night when the tournament ends. Batch it. 15 minutes, done.

During Games

Watch the game. Cheer. Enjoy it. Jot down quick numbers when you have a second. Notation doesn't need to be perfect—just quick enough that you remember later.

Game 1: H 2-1, G: 1, A: 0, S: 3

Game 2: H 5-2, G: 0, A: 1, S: 2

Game 3: H 4-3 OT, G: 1, A: 0, S: 4

That's it. You're done tracking during the tournament. Everything else is admin.

After Tournament

Sunday night at home, spend 15 minutes logging the three games. Three separate entries (one per game), same player. Done.

Now you have tournament cards. Your kid sees three cards from tournament weekend. Your family sees three moments. That's the payoff.

Why This Matters

Tournament weekends are intense. Your kid plays three times. Three chances to shine. Three chances to see themselves as a competitor under pressure. Those moments deserve cards. Those cards deserve to be kept.
